Lead distribution (ping/post)

Collect leads from suppliers, route them to buyers by auction, priority, round robin or waterfall, and handle returns and payouts.

Lead distribution sells leads in real time. Suppliers (your partners) submit a lead, Metrixed validates and de-duplicates it, offers it to buyers using ping/post, delivers it to the winner and books money for both sides on the ledger.

Objects

ObjectPurpose
VerticalA kind of lead (mortgage, insurance). Holds the routing mode, max_sales (1 to 20 buyers per lead), ping and post timeouts, the return window in hours, the de-duplication field and window, and whether consent is required.
Fields and formsThe fields a lead has (types, validation) and hosted or embeddable forms that collect them.
BuyerA company that buys leads, optionally linked to an advertiser for billing.
CampaignA buyer's order: filters, caps, schedule, price or bid range, and how to ping and post (URL templates, headers, body mapping, how to read the response).
Supplier termsWhat each supplier is paid per lead or sale.

Routing modes

ModeBehaviour
auctionPing every eligible campaign in parallel; the highest bid wins, priority breaks ties.
priorityPing in parallel; the accepted bidder with the best (lowest) priority wins.
round_robinPing in parallel; rotate, weighted, across accepted bidders.
waterfallNo ping: post to buyers in priority order until the lead is sold.

With max_sales greater than 1, up to that many buyers can purchase the same (shared) lead; campaigns marked accepts_shared take part. A campaign is eligible only if its filters match (same operators as the rules engine on lead fields and supplier, sub1 to sub3, vertical, hour_of_day, day_of_week), it is inside its schedule, and under its caps (hourly and daily; daily uses the buyer's time zone). Pricing is fixed or bid with a floor and optional ceiling.

Submitting a lead

Suppliers call POST /leads with a supplier API key, or post a hosted form (POST /public/lead-forms/{slug}/submit, JSON or urlencoded, CORS limited to the form's allowed origins).

bash
curl -X POST https://api.metrixed.com/v1/leads \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUPPLIER_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"vertical":"mortgage","fields":{"email":"jane@example.com","zip":"90210","loan_amount":350000},"sub1":"fb-feb"}'

The lead is validated against the vertical's fields, checked for consent when required, and de-duplicated by dedupe_field within dedupe_days (a repeat is marked duplicate and not sold). Then the engine routes it. The supplier gets back a restricted view: accepted or rejected, a reason, and the lead id; buyer identities and prices stay hidden.

Building a buyer campaign

Use Lead distribution in the admin portal. The mapping builder (POST /lead-campaigns/{id}/test-send) renders and optionally sends the ping and post for sample fields so you can check the request and the parsed response before going live. Response parsing describes how to tell accepted from rejected, how to read the bid or price and the buyer's reference id.

Money and returns

  • A sale books a buyer charge and a supplier payout on the ledger (lead_sale journals), so supplier earnings reach statements and payout runs like any other.
  • Buyers can request a return inside the vertical's return window (POST /lead-sales/{id}/returns, or from the buyer portal). Staff approve or reject (/lead-returns/{id}/approve|reject); approval marks the sale returned and reverses both the buyer charge and the supplier payout. A campaign can set return_auto_approve_hours; a worker then approves pending return requests automatically after that many hours (0 means manual review only).
  • Reports (POST /leads/report) group by vertical, supplier, buyer, campaign and day: leads, sold percentage, revenue, cost, margin and return rate.

Limits

Buyer URLs on private networks are refused unless DT_ALLOW_PRIVATE_DESTINATIONS=1. Email delivery of leads is queued as a notification rather than a template. There are no suppression lists yet, and lead-level metrics have no buyer split in some views.
